If you’re planning a Disney Cruise, chances are you’ve come across the idea of renting a private cabana at Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay and wondered if it’s really worth it.
These cabanas are one of the most exclusive experiences on Disney Cruise Line and also one of the hardest to book.
In this guide, I’m walking you through everything you need to know about Disney cruise cabana rentals, including pricing, what’s included, how booking

works, and your real chances of getting one.
What Is a Disney Cruise Cabana?
A Disney Cruise Line cabana is a private, shaded beach retreat located on Disney’s private island destinations, Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
Instead of navigating crowded beach areas, you’ll have a reserved space that’s fully set up for your group, offering comfort, privacy, and added amenities throughout the day.
For many guests, this is the ultimate way to upgrade their island day.

Castaway Cay vs. Lookout Cay: What’s the Difference?
Castaway Cay Cabana Experience
Cabanas at Castaway Cay are located in two main areas: the family beach and Serenity Bay (the adults-only section). This is Disney’s original private island, and it’s known for its lush landscaping and well-established layout.
Because of its popularity and the number of repeat cruisers, Castaway Cay cabanas are extremely competitive to book.

Lookout Cay Cabana Experience
Cabanas at Lookout Cay (especially in areas like Mabrika Cove) offer a more modern, open design. This newer destination is still evolving, and while availability can sometimes be slightly better than Castaway Cay, cabanas here are still very limited.
The overall feel is more spacious and culturally inspired, but the exclusivity remains the same.

How Much Does a Disney Cruise Cabana Cost?
The cost of a Disney cruise cabana varies depending on your sailing, demand, and location.
Most current price ranges fall around:
Castaway Cay
  • Family Beach Cabanas: approximately $900–$1,000+ Includes up to 6 guests, but can accommodate up to 10 total guests (additional fee per extra guest)
  • Mickey & Minnie Cove Cabanas: approximately $900–$1,000+ Includes up to 6 guests, with a maximum capacity of around 10 guests (additional fee per extra guest)
  • Serenity Bay (adults-only): approximately $550–$750+ Includes up to 4 guests, with a maximum of around 6 guests total (additional fee per extra guest)
Lookout Cay
  • Mabrika Cove (Family) Cabanas: approximately $950–$1,200+ Includes up to 6 guests, with a maximum capacity of around 10 guests (additional fee per extra guest)
  • Serenity Bay (adults-only): approximately $550–$700+ Includes up to 4 guests, with a maximum of around 6 guests total (additional fee per extra guest)
Important disclaimer: Pricing is subject to change at any time. Disney Cruise Line adjusts cabana pricing periodically, so these ranges are general estimates - not guaranteed rates.
What’s Included in a Disney Cruise Cabana?
One of the biggest reasons guests choose to rent a cabana is the added comfort and convenience.
Inside your cabana, you can expect:
  • Comfortable lounge seating and shaded space
  • A stocked refrigerator with water and soft drinks
  • Fresh towels and cooling fans
  • A fruit platter and light snacks
  • Secure storage for valuables
  • Charging outlets for devices
  • Direct beach access
  • Dedicated attendant service
At Castaway Cay, snorkel gear, floats, and bikes are also included, which can add significant value depending on how you plan your day.
How Hard Is It to Get a Cabana on a Disney Cruise?
This is where many travelers are caught off guard.
Disney Cruise Line releases cabanas based on Castaway Club status, meaning repeat cruisers get earlier booking access.
The order typically looks like this:
  • Concierge guests (first access)
  • Pearl
  • Platinum
  • Gold
  • Silver
  • First-time cruisers
In reality, cabanas are fully reserved before first-time cruisers (and many times Gold and Silver) ever have a chance to book.
That said, cancellations do happen, especially after final payment deadlines or in the weeks leading up to sailing, so it’s always worth checking back.
Is a Disney Cruise Cabana Worth It?
For some travelers, absolutely.
If you value a stress-free beach day, guaranteed shade, and a private space for your group, a cabana can completely elevate your experience. This is especially true for families with kids or groups traveling together.
However, it is a premium add-on - and not a necessity. Disney’s private islands are designed to be enjoyable even without a cabana.
It ultimately comes down to how you prefer to vacation.

Tips for Booking a Disney Cruise Cabana
If securing a cabana is high on your priority list, a little strategy goes a long way.
Booking as early as your window opens is critical, especially for higher-demand sailings. It’s also helpful to keep checking for availability, as cancellations can and do happen.
Working with a travel advisor can make a significant difference here, not just in timing your booking window, but in identifying sailings where your chances may be better.
Why Book Your Disney Cruise with a Travel Advisor?
When it comes to high-demand experiences like cabanas, having expert guidance can give you an edge.
A travel advisor can help you:
  • Understand your booking window and strategy
  • Recommend sailings with better availability potential
  • Build backup plans if cabanas aren’t available
  • Guide you through the entire Disney Cruise planning process
And beyond cabanas, you’ll have support for everything from stateroom selection to onboard activities - making the entire experience smoother from start to finish.
Final Thoughts on Disney Cruise Cabanas
Disney Cruise cabanas at Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay are one of the most sought-after upgrades you can add to your vacation.
They offer a level of comfort, privacy, and convenience that can transform your island day, but they also require planning, timing, and a bit of luck to secure.
If it’s on your wish list, the best approach is to plan early, understand the process, and give yourself every advantage possible.
Because if you do manage to book one… you’ll quickly see why they’re so popular!
