Ultimate Guide to: Disney's Port Orleans Riverside

Overview:
Disney’s Port Orleans: Riverside is the bayou themed half of the Port Orleans sister resorts. This is a moderate resort meaning it is in the middle price range, there are no villas or suites at the resort but the pool does have a slide. Inspired by the Bayou of Louisiana this resort balances relaxation and adventure.

Resort Map & sections:
Disney's Port Orleans Riverside is very spacious but has two main sections, Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Gardens. These offer the same room types with the exception of the princess themed rooms in one section of rooms in Magnolia Gardens. The rooms in Alligator Bayou are closer to the main building and the main pool area. Ole' Man Island is the main large pool located in the center of the resort. Guests can follow the Sassagoula River to walk to the French Quarter side of the resort.

Room types:
There are only two different types of rooms offered at this resort - standard studios and princess themed rooms. The princess themed rooms are located in the Oak Manor section only. The two sides of the resort are Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend. The insides of the rooms are exactly the same but the exteriors are different. 

Dining Options:
Boatwrights Dining Hall is the sit down dining location at Port Orleans: Riverside. It serves classic home cooked New Orleans style food. 

Riverside Mill Food Court is the quick service dining location located in the mill. This is perfect for meals on the go or a quick meal before heading into the parks.

Pools & Recreation: 
Port Orleans: Riverside is home to one man pool - Ole' Man Island as well as five quiet pools. These pools are also available to guests staying at Port Orleans: French Quarter as this sister resort has no quiet pools. Ole' Man Island Pool has a waterfall as well as a slide and a hot tub.

Fishing Hole - Riverside is one of the only Walt Disney World Resorts that offers fishing at the resort. Make sure to check resort recreation guides for times and booking options. 

Bike Rentals - Rent a family Surrey Bike or single bike and ride around Port Orleans - both sides!

Horse Drawn Carriage -  Port Orleans: Riverside is one of two resorts at Walt Disney World Resort that offers Horse Drawn Carriage Rides. These can be booked through the My Disney Experience App - but make sure to  check resort recreation guides for additional availability.

Location and Transportation:
Located along the Sassagoula River means convenient boat access to Disney Springs. All other parks are accessible via complementary buses. There are 6 bus stops around the resort.

Recommendations:
Building 14 in the Alligator Bayou section is closest to the main building and food courts. This resort is expansive so being close to the main areas can be important. This resort also has great recreation activities including fishing and bike rentals.

My favorites about this resort:
This resort is so big, it is perfect for renting surrey bikes and exploring. There are also so many activities available even fishing early in the morning. Make sure to check out resort recreation guides for more information.
