Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party: Is It Worth the Extra Ticket?

Let me be very clear about something up front: we are adults. A group of fully grown, card-carrying adults who show up to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party every year in full costume, clutching our trick-or-treat bags, and having the absolute time of our lives.  And we are not alone. One of the most magical things about this event is looking around Magic Kingdom and seeing everyone - kids, families, grandparents, groups of friends, all dressed up, all giddy, all completely swept up in the magic of it.
Is the extra ticket worth it? We have asked ourselves that question exactly zero times. But for those of you still on the fence, let us break it down — because the answer is an emphatic, glitter-covered, pumpkin-scented yes.

The Costumes. Always the Costumes.
Yes, adults absolutely dress up — and it is the whole point.
Every year, our group chooses a theme, we commit fully, and we walk into Magic Kingdom dressed to the nines. The energy the moment you arrive in costume is indescribable. Other guests love it. Cast Members love it. Disney actively encourages it. Guests 14 and older are welcome to wear costumes, and the creativity you will see on any given party night is genuinely one of the highlights of the entire evening. We have seen everything from spot-on Disney Villain groups to full Haunted Mansion tableaus, and every year our own costumes get a little more elaborate. It has become a tradition we genuinely look forward to for months.

Everything Included With Your Ticket
This is a separately ticketed event on top of regular park admission, so let's talk about what you actually get for that $119 to $229. The answer is: a lot.
Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade
One of Disney's very best parades  led by the iconic Headless Horseman galloping through the park. Haunted Mansion gravediggers, Disney Princesses, beloved villains, and Mickey and friends in their Halloween best.
Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Fireworks
An exclusive Halloween fireworks show over Cinderella Castle, hosted by Jack Skellington. Dazzling projections transform the castle while Ursula, Queen of Hearts, and Oogie Boogie tower overhead.
Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular
The Sanderson Sisters take the Cinderella Castle stage in this hilarious fan-favorite show — joined by Disney's most delightfully wicked villains. Wildly entertaining every single time.

Picture
Unlimited Trick-or-Treating
Multiple treat trails throughout Magic Kingdom with unlimited candy, including allergy-friendly options. Yes, adults get candy too. We always come home with an embarrassing amount.

Rare Character Meet & Greets
Characters you simply cannot meet on a regular park day:
  • Jack Skellington and Sally
  • Characters in Halloween costumes
  • Surprise villain appearances along the treat trails
Early Entry at 4:00 PM
Party ticket holders can enter Magic Kingdom three full hours before the event officially begins, a huge head start on rides with dramatically shorter wait times.
Shorter Ride Wait Times
With limited tickets sold, wait times during the party are dramatically lower than a normal park day. We have walked onto rides that normally carry 60+ minute waits.
Exclusive Halloween Atmosphere & Overlays
Special Halloween lighting, decorations, and music transform the entire park. Select attractions receive full Halloween overlays. Magic Kingdom feels like a completely different world.
NEW 2026: Stitch's Tomorrowland Dance Party
Brand new for 2026 - Stitch takes over Rocket tower Plaza Stage with Lilo and Angel. Each costume from Lilo's Costume Trunk triggers a new theme, making every show different.

Why We Keep Going Back, Year After Year
We are asked all the time: doesn't it get old? Our answer is always the same — absolutely not. Here is why.
The Boo-to-You Parade Never Gets Old
Every single year, the moment the Headless Horseman comes galloping down Main Street U.S.A., the entire crowd loses their minds and so do we. It is one of the most purely joyful, spine-tingling moments Disney produces anywhere. We have seen it many times and it gives us chills every single time.

Picture
The Costume Ritual Is Half the Fun
Every year we pick a new group theme, spend weeks planning it, and debut it at the party. The reaction from other guests and Cast Members when a group costume lands perfectly is one of the best feelings. It has become something we look forward to as much as the event itself.
Characters You Cannot See Any Other Time
Jack Skellington and Sally. Villains in surprise locations. Mickey and friends in their Halloween costumes. These meet-and-greet opportunities are genuinely rare, and for Disney fans who care about character experiences, they are worth the ticket price on their own.
Magic Kingdom at Night, in Halloween Mode, Is Something Else
The park is decorated. The lighting is different. The music is different. The energy is different. Walking down Main Street with everyone in costume, the castle lit in orange and purple, the Hocus Pocus show blasting from the stage and it feels like nowhere else on earth.
The Candy. An Unreasonable Amount of Candy.
We are grown adults. We fill our bags at every single treat trail without an ounce of shame.  Allergy-friendly options are available at dedicated locations too. The trick-or-treating is genuinely fun, and anyone who tells you adults should not enjoy this has simply never tried it.
Tips From People Who've Done This Many, Many Times
  • Arrive at 4:00 PM sharp.  Use your early entry. Ride the big attractions before party crowds build after 7pm. This is non-negotiable.
  • Book early because dates sell out!  October weekends especially. Don't assume last-minute availability. Your Tink's agent can secure tickets for you, the moment they go on sale.
  • Consider August or early September - Lower prices, shorter queues, identical entertainment.  A weeknight in August is one of the best-kept secrets at Walt Disney World.
  • Watch the parade twice!  The second parade is always less crowded. Watch the first from Frontierland, then reposition to Main Street for the fireworks.
  • Commit to the costume!  Adults 14+ can and should wear costumes. Go all in.  You will not regret it and you will absolutely fit in.
  • Target rare characters first: Jack and Sally, villains, and unique meet-and-greets, have the longest lines. Go during the first parade or right at the start of the party.
So - Is the Extra Ticket Worth It?
"There is no other night at Walt Disney World quite like a party night. The costumes, the parade, the fireworks, the candy, the characters — it is Halloween magic at a level only Disney can deliver. We go every year. We will keep going every year."

OUR VERDICT
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is one of the most purely joyful events Walt Disney World offers - for families, for kids, and absolutely for adults willing to lean in and embrace the magic.
The separate ticket is worth every penny for the parade and fireworks alone, and everything else: the costumes, the unlimited candy, the rare characters, the transformed park atmosphere, makes it one of the very best nights you can spend at Walt Disney World.

We go every year. We dress up every year. We will never, ever stop.
