I’ve sailed on the Disney Wish more than 25 times, and I can tell you firsthand, this ship is one of the most misunderstood ships in the fleet when people first experience it. The Disney Wish, introduced an entirely new class of ship for Disney Cruise Line, and with that came a design that felt very different from what longtime cruisers were used to. When it first debuted, there was Cinderella and her Prince greet guests in the Wish Atrium definitely some hesitation, especially from guests who loved the more traditional layouts of the Magic, Dream, and Fantasy. And honestly? I understand why. The Wish is more segmented. It’s more immersive. It doesn’t follow the same “wide open, easy flow” design that guests were used to. But here’s what I always tell my clients, and what I’ve learned after sailing her again and again: Once you understand the ship, it completely changes your experience. This is not a ship you just show up to, it’s a ship you experience. And when you do, you start to realize just how much it truly offers. Ship Overview The Disney Wish is the first of the Wish-class ships, and it was intentionally designed to feel more like a collection of experiences rather than one continuous open space. The Grand Hall alone sets the tone. It’s not just an atrium, it’s a living, changing environment with lighting, entertainment, and character moments that shift throughout the day. It feels more like stepping into a castle than onto a cruise ship. One thing I always coach my clients on is this: the Wish requires a little more intention. Once you learn where things are and how the ship flows, it actually becomes incredibly easy to navigate, but it’s different from what people expect at first. And that’s exactly why so many guests fall in love with it after day one. A Concierge stateroom Staterooms & Accommodations The staterooms on the Wish are a noticeable upgrade in both design and feel. They’re brighter, more modern, and just feel more elevated overall. You still get Disney’s signature split-bathroom layout, which, if you’ve ever cruised with family, you know is a huge advantage, but everything feels a bit more refined. From my experience sailing multiple times, here’s what stands out most to clients:
And then there’s Concierge, this is where the Wish really separates itself. The Concierge staterooms and suites on the Wish are a true step up from the classic ships. The design, layout, and overall experience feel significantly more elevated and intentional. You’ll find some of the most unique accommodations in the entire Disney fleet, including:
Frozen characters greet guest in Arendelle Dining Onboard Dining on the Wish is one of the biggest reasons guests love this ship—and one of the biggest differences compared to the older ships. This is not just dinner. This is entertainment, technology, and storytelling all built into your dining experience. The rotational dining includes:
Adult Venues & Relaxation This is one area where the Wish truly leveled up.
Disney always delivers here, and the Wish is no exception. The Walt Disney Theatre productions are incredible, but what makes the Wish different is how entertainment is layered throughout the ship. It’s not just about going to a show, it’s about constantly being in the experience. Be sure to catch the show on the first night Seas The Adventure, it really starts your cruise out right! The Little Mermaid is also one not to be missed. Love this show! It creates a very different energy compared to other ships. Lets not forget, The Rock’in Pirate Party at Sea, this pirate party is our families favorite, and it even has fireworks! This is one not to miss! Pools & Recreation The pool deck on the Wish is one of the areas that felt most different to returning cruisers but once you understand it, it works really well. Instead of one large central pool area, the Wish spreads pools across multiple levels. This actually helps with crowd flow and makes it easier to find space, especially on busier sailings. The AquaMouse is a standout, it’s more than just a water ride, it’s an attraction with storytelling built in. Families, kids, and even adults end up riding it multiple times. Spas and Other Offerings The Senses Spa on the Wish is one of the most impressive in the fleet. The Rainforest Room, in particular, is something I always recommend. The ocean views, the heated loungers, the overall atmosphere, it’s one of those spaces where you can truly disconnect. There are also more boutique-style shopping areas, updated fitness spaces, and specialty experiences that all feel elevated compared to older ships. Overall Experience After sailing on the Wish more than 25 times, I can confidently say this: This ship is not about doing more, it’s about experiencing more. It may feel different at first, especially if you’re used to other Disney ships. But once you understand the layout and lean into what the ship is designed to offer, it becomes one of the most unique and rewarding experiences in the fleet. For many of my clients, the Wish becomes a favorite after their first sailing—not because it’s familiar, but because it’s different in all the right ways. If you’re looking for something more immersive, more modern, and more elevated, the Disney Wish is an incredible choice. And if you’re not sure how to navigate it, that’s where we come in. We’ll guide you on how to experience the ship the right way so you can truly enjoy everything it has to offer. |
