By Tink's Planner, Missy. I was lucky enough to go on the first two Disney Cruise Line® sailings on the Disney Dream after they started sailing again in early August. Originally, my husband and I only had the second Disney Dream sailing on August 13th booked. But after some seriously begging, my husband gave in and was willing to go on the first sailing that left on August 9th as well. In so doing, we were officially Back to Back sailors on the Disney Dream. Apparently, we were not the only ones with this great idea -- there must have been at least 75 people who sailed with us on both cruises!
This was not the first time we had cruised Back to Back with Mickey and Minnie. Back in March 2019, we sailed on two consecutive sailings, but that time there were only a dozen or so other people who were Back to Backers. Back then, we had the same room so we were allowed to keep our items in the room. We had to disembark the ship, but we were allowed to get back on whenever we wanted. Our August 2021 experience with Back to Back cruising was very different. This time, we received a letter to our stateroom the night before that gave us instructions on what we needed to do. We were switching rooms and they would move all our packed items to the new stateroom for us. We were instructed to meet at a certain location (it was in one of the bars) at 9:15am. The next morning, when we arrived at the prescribed location, Cast Members checked us off a list and asked us our stateroom number. After about a 1/2 hour all the Back to Back cruisers were escorted off the ship together. We only had to bring our passports and phones with QR codes to get back on the ship. Once we were off the ship, Cast Members lined us all up and checked us all back in. We did not have to go through security again as we were fully vaccinated. If you were under 12 or not vaccinated (that will change September 3rd) you had to go have your Covid-19 tests done. Then, we all went back into the Terminal to wait to get back on the ship. At around. 11:45am, my husband and I and all of the other Back to Backers were allowed to embark on the Dream again. We were told that the Cove Cafe Bar was open for us to enjoy -- there were sandwiches and snacks for everyone. It was quite nice being some of the only people on the ship for a good hour and a half! Doing these two Back to Back cruises gave us four stops at Castaway Cay! My husband and I felt that Disney Cruise Line did a great job with all the health protocols -- so much so that we look forward to setting sail on more Disney cruises in the near future. |
