Steve, Travel Professional
My wife introduced me to Walt Disney World not long after we got married. I learned really quickly that Disney World is not an amusement park and that there’s a very good reason it’s called Disney “World.” Now that quality is often called the Disney Bubble, and it’s what I like best about Disney World. You’re in this beautiful, clean world where everyone who works there is super nice and helpful, where there’s often background music like you’re in a movie (Disney Knows Movies), where the resorts are destinations themselves, and where unbelievable effort is put into making this world magical, and that’s before we get to rides where you can ride a banshee and feel it breathing. I think I take more pictures there than anywhere because I want to look at them again and again. We’ve been many, many times and stayed at Value resorts, Moderate resorts, and Deluxe resorts.
Years later, when we first considered cruising, our travel agent told us that we should cruise Disney; that it was head and shoulders above everyone else. We did, and we’ve never looked back. We’re DCL (Disney Cruise Lines) Gold, heading for Platinum. My favorite ship is the Fantasy, but we’re looking forward to trying all the ships in the fleet.
For our fortieth anniversary, we went to Aulani. It’s far from the East Coast where we live, but we’ll go back. While there, I discovered the quickest and easiest way to walk to nearby businesses, one not commonly used, and when we shared it on line a whole lot of people thanked us effusively. Ask me and I’ll share it with you. Quick tip if you go: Order dessert. Aulani has a great pastry chef. We took a class with her.
I’ve been to Disney World and the cruise ships many, many times, with my wife alone or with children, including our disabled son in a wheelchair. I’ve been to WDW with a car and without. Sometimes my wife uses a scooter on long park days. Sometimes my wife and I go to Disney World mainly to eat; there are a lot of top notch restaurants there, and there aren’t many other places where you can watch fireworks during dinner or after, right where you are. Should you go with or without kids? Yes; they’re different experiences but all are worth having. Are you worried about whether Disney can accommodate whatever your needs are? I can help - I’ve been there. I know the territory and I know it from multiple perspectives. I’d love to help you personalize your trip to whatever experience you wish!
