I live in Georgia with my husband. I first visited Walt Disney World® Resort on my honeymoon with my husband. My favorite memory was when the barbershop quartet found out that I was a new bride and serenaded me to "Let me call you sweetheart." That was the first of many trips! Way back when, we got to experience Epcot when they gave free passes to educators in honor of their partnership with education. (I still have a day pass from one of those trips!) We took trips when Hollywood Studios first opened (then called MGM), and we even have tee shirts from the year the Animal Kingdom first began.
When I think of visiting Walt Disney World®, a flood of memories surface. A special vacation was when we visited the 25th anniversary of the Magic Kingdom with my parents and our son. It was so incredible to see Cinderella's Castle all decked out as a giant birthday cake! Some of my most precious memories besides my honeymoon are of my son as a toddler watching fireworks at the Cinderella’s Castle, when he met Mickey for the first time, and then when he was a few years older introducing his grandmother (who was named Minnie) to Minnie Mouse. Those memories will stay with me forever!
My husband and I knew that Disney was a place where we would build a lifetime of memories as a family. No matter how many times I have walked through the gates or under the railroad at the Magic Kingdom, it never stops being magical to me. I can't begin to tell you all the times my husband leans over and says to me, "welcome home" because he knows just how much I love Disney. When we retired from full-time careers as educators, we decided to purchase annual passes to Walt Disney World®.
Our family has visited Disneyland® as well. I remember one time when we were walking into Disneyland and we were treated like royalty by one of the photographers, Dave. When Dave learned that we had been to Disney World,® he walked us around Main Street giving us a private tour. Dave pointed out where Walt Disney's private apartment is still located, and we also learned that Walt's family members still visit the apartment during various times of the year to observe the guests and reminisce.
Another fun Disney Destination is to take a cruise on a Mickey Ship! Once we sailed on Disney Cruise Line, we experienced a vacation like none other. It was luxury and cruising all in one! Although I retired from a career as a full-time educator, I still work at a non-traditional high school two nights a week helping at-risk students get their high school diploma. I have been an elementary teacher, middle school teacher, middle school assistant principal, elementary principal, and district level administrator as a director of multiple federal programs. I have a Bachelors of Science, from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, a Masters of Early Childhood Education from North Georgia College and an Educational Specialist Degree from Lincoln Memorial University.
I look forward to making your dreams come true and building memories for you and yours!
